It was scanned though -- by a professional. My antivirus software says that everything is fine. It's weird.

I have the same vista too, it works fine, but is really laggy and doesn't respond correctly to the mouse.
Meanwhile on Home Basic, it keeps crashing

Its laggy? Mine isnt bad, but I would definitely agree, vistas are SLOW. It takes forever to start up vista laptops. BUT I do know a way to speed up the startup.
Go to the "run" program, and type in: msconfig
In the "general" tab, click the selective startup, and make sure that the "load startup items" is not selected.
Click OK, and let it restart your computer.
It should be a heck of alot faster when it starts, and you dont have to wait for half an hour waiting for the stupid clock and calendar or whatever you have to show up. (It does turn off your clock and everything, but it's worth it)

Freddy wrote:OK, now Im sure that I have a virus. So much for that stupid Norton "Antivirus" Security. Im amazed that the virus is actually shutting down Norton one function at a time. Its as if someone is doing it manually. Could this be possible? What should I do now? Also, there are some "warnings" that Norton is creating. They involve actions such as restarting my computer and stuff, and Im wondering if they could be frauds?

I also have norton... i got a virus a while back and it started making my cpu verry laggy... then the screen started turning grey and black boxes, norton after some time figured out the virus i guess and deleted parts of it... now every time i log into my cpu i get message boxes of the virus trieng to start up ........ wher am i getting... just mess around with norton a little i dont really think i helped just now :?

edit:

To skyler -- Yeah, the virus deleted parts of my Norton too. It said that there was a significant section of Norton missing.

To Kall -- Nope, downloaded on my computer. I did try importing it through a USB though. Still didnt work.

ok, the thing is, I tried playing some games on a vista laptop, I tried them on the flashdrive because I didn't have the time to copy them.
srb2 worked, but worms world party showed exactly the same error message as your game editor did.

(hehe, it's not my vista laptop anyway  )

When I get a vista laptop, I'm gonna deinstall vista and get XP.

you do that and your hardware won't work anymore.
My friend tried that with his laptop and I was going to do it with mine as well, but there are no drivers. For like the wireless card.
He had to install and uninstall Linux, Windows Vista/XP all the time, his computer ended up in the shop for repairing.

i dont know if this will help but.......
you say it used to work right? well use system restore to restore everything to the way it was before it stopped working

and if that doesnt work...............format your computer
it shouldnt come to that because it looks like a simple software error

think of software you recently installed, cause even anti-virus can cause trouble (like my now removed norton -shudders-)

PS, game editor works perfectly on my vista: home premium so i don't see the trouble there.......
