If you DL a nasty from the web, it may take a while to become a problem. It could be a trojan, it could be a timebomb. You could have been cruising along thinking your system was clean and healthy without knowing you were infected.

It could have been a video or something in an email. There are so many ways for you to get in trouble when you don't even know it.

It's really a pain to try to figure out. I've been lucky, I've only ever seen a Java virus on my machine deep in some jar file.

Do you mean avatar? Ive heard supa-tails say that a biohazard sign showed up in a virus that he got. Funny they used the biohazard sign. I suppose if it's called a virus, it fits the part.
Anyway, thanks for the information. I still have my desktop computer, although Im not used to using it with GE(and it's so slow it makes my laptop look fast). I just hope this virus (if it is one) does'nt get any worse. It used to be the intrusion prevention that malfunctioned. Now its nine individual functions that Norton is supposed to do. They wont fix themselves either. I tried system restore to about last week, but it didnt work. It said that there were files that could'nt be changed (sounds fishy). In the meantime, I'm not going to do anything about it soon. (I hope that's not a bad choice)

Scratch that, now there's ten problems wrong with my antivirus software.

OK, now Im sure that I have a virus. So much for that stupid Norton "Antivirus" Security. Im amazed that the virus is actually shutting down Norton one function at a time. Its as if someone is doing it manually. Could this be possible? What should I do now? Also, there are some "warnings" that Norton is creating. They involve actions such as restarting my computer and stuff, and Im wondering if they could be frauds?

Thanks, but I just got it fixed. The virus part anyway. The tech guy was moving my mouse through the internet. It was pretty cool to watch. They go through windows like lightining. Anyway, I tried downloading GE once more, and when I did, the same problem happened. I searched through my files, and I realized that the Game Editor file folder was empty. I uninstalled it, deleted the folder, downloaded it again, tried to start it, and the same thing happened. Again, I looked for the GE folder, and it was empty. Is it supposed to be like this? If there isnt a virus, whats happening?

Ive run out completely of ideas. I tried deleting completely, and re-installing several times. I got rid of any virus that I might have had. Ive tried system restore. I tried downloading GE from my other computer onto a USB and loading it on to my computer. Its been at least a week since GE last worked, and no matter what I do, the same thing happens. Heres a picture of what's happening.

Anyone have an idea?

Anyway, I went to GE -> properties -> compatibility mode -> ?
There was no windows vista compatibility mode option. I tried some other compatibility modes like Windows xp, Windows me, but alas, the same error message came up.

makslane, please make a vista compatability. take your time.

It used to work fine on my vista, except for a few errors with the keyboard. Thats what I dont get.
