Hey, do you think it would be possible for game-editor to read from an excel file? If so how would I go about that?

In a word, no. The file format is far too complex, you can read more about it here. http://www.openoffice.org/sc/excelfileformat.pdf
If you want tables and similar, it is easier to create your own.
