I'd wish for GE to work with the GP2X-F200, specifically with touchscreen and drawing support (e.g. so you can identify the drawing of a letter and determine how accurate it was written on the screen). Next in line would be an overhaul of the GE user interface. And finally GE supporting Symbian. iPhone support is last.

Cheers

Patrick

it would be great and likely to be impossible.. as apple is unlikely to really support applications (local content not that web based stuff) on their device. why? because if a device is to do what it does well, it has to be contained.. look at the pocket pc.. microsoft botches aside.. the unit runs fine without apps installed.. but once you get into experimenting with installing other software, things can get weird.. that's not to say all apps are bad, but the door is opened for iphones to have problems.. just like the ipod.. you think ipods couldn't do games? of course they could.. however apples philosophy of "it just works" is a two edged sword.. it also means.. it just does what's suppose too from day one till retirement.. no changes.. = less issues.. i believe the iphone is successful enough to not need game / app development.. would i like to make games on it? sure.. i just believe apple won't want to get into that.. install apps through itunes? it would take a lot of work on apples part to make it possible..

now to counter my own point, i have heard about apps being hacked on it. apparently someone made a Nintendo emulator.. so i'm not sure how they pulled it off.. and maybe it's just through hacking that people will get apps.. i'm happy with pocket pc personally because i don't have to hack it to get all the games and apps i want on it.. active sync and so forth.. i love having tom tom software on my phone with a bt gps.. installing custom mp3 players that give me more than media player does... open software development breeds competition and quality in the process and innovation.

Thanks
Caleb

I would rather have you put the effort into finishing the new and improved User Interface for Game Editor. As a full time programmer and game maker i find the current interface still awkward to work in. The new interface would make creating games and applications much faster.

Seeing as you indicate that creating a port for iPhone is easy, it could be added quickly after you finish the new version of the user interface.

Coming from the programming world myself, i can immagine the attractiveness to dive into something new (iPhone port) before finishing the dull parts of the current improvements. But you should see the new port as an incentive to finish your current work on improvements, so that you can start on the 'fun' part of creating the iPhone port after that.

Keep on the good work, i hope you will be able to give us the new interface before the end of this year.

yes yes and YES!

I think an Iphone port would be a great addition. I'd be first in line to buy the new version . . . wait a sec, that is unless you are going to drop the price by $200 only 2 months after release. :D

I can understand other's desire for improvement on some other things, such as GPX, but personally I'd rather be making games for Iphone than GPX, and my game would have a larger exposure to an iphone crowd than a GPX crowd. Not to discredit GPX, but when I make something in GE I want to share my creation with as many people as possible.

As far as interface, there's always room for improvement, but I think it works great right now.

I guess the only feature I would support over Iphone is network game support, mmos and stuff. But I'll keep dreaming :D , but until then I want the Iphone port.

YES!

That would be great, I would make games all the time, what about IPods!!! I would love to make games for ipods! However, the paperwork and legal documents would take a lifetime to work throuhg, and you would have to get all sorts of permission from people. But its still a cool idea...
Darkboy, I like your new avatar. :D

I can't make for all different devices now. But the iPhone, like the GP2X, is a unix system with a ARM processor.
So the port should be fast.

Other devices with Symbian, for example, requires much more time to develop.

While a lot of hype has surrounded the iPhone, it will never have that much of the market share because (1) it's expensive; and (2) it sucks. Just my two cents.
