Alright, I just rated the two games, and not telling who won or lost, but both of them got above 50/90 in total. (Great job! ) I rated them quite nicely because they were incomplete. I really hope that there really will be an expansion so that the games will reach their full potential. :)

Results are tallied in, and we will announce winner, unless Hares decides to extend tournament by a month to give everyone more time. We will announce tomorrow if he doesn't respond, but today if he wants the tournament to end here.

When I entered the tournament it was a one month event, and I don't feel like changing it.

We started out with a bunch of contestants:
-AliceXIII
-Hares (... that's me)
-sonicforvergame
-Goettsch
-lcl

* We didn't hear anything from AliceXIII.
* Sonicforvergame has mid year exams coming up, and doesn't have much to show yet.
*Goettsch has the menu and the level set up, but still needs to work out a battle system.

and there were 2 more wanting to enter later on, but didn't because of time issues:
-jonathang
-knucklecrunchgames

If we prolong the tournament, then I don't think jonathang and knucklecrunchgames will still enter.
And even if Goettsch picks up his game again, he has a lot of catching up to do.

Anyway I will continue working on my game. I have a clear idea now of what I want level 2 to be.
And I am shure lcl will also continue on his game.

But the most important reason is, that if you start a new tournament now everyone can enter. Without having to wait an extra month for this tournament to finish.
That way there will be more GE games in the pipe line.

Well, okay so Hares, since you have decided that the tournament would best be ended now, this is how it will work. On the next post, I will declare the winner. I will send the winner a 2014 championship tournament pass and a 2014 tournament advantage pass, which I have thought of a new feature of, and one point. Continuing on, February will still have the theme of rotation, but is now just a month long tournament, but will be the last monthly tournament, except on April, the anniversary month of these tournaments, which will just be its own tournament, but two tournaments will be going on during April, one for the anniversary, and the second for the 2 month long one that starts in March. Starting March, all tournaments, except the one mentioned before, will be two months long, and the deadline will be the 21st of the month that follows the month a tournament started. The 2014 championship will have the same rules, being a 2 month long tournaments, but only the eligible can enter it like usual.

Thank you for your time.

I wanted to post this earlier but didn't have the chance, and now it is time for the post-tournament discussion. Why Hares won, and why lcl lost.

First off, Hares won because well, although he only got a level in, he was able to complete it more within the deadline, his game was creative, and everything fit together well, also he took advantage of the criticism to fix minor mistakes.

lcl, definitely showed us his superior experience in Game Editor, but as he mentions, he made an impressive engine, but there was barely a game to go with that engine. We knew the game would be fun, but since he spent so much time creating an engine, he was left with little time to create a game.

Both have definite potential, and I can not wait to see them complete.

If you want to know your ratings, message me, and I will send you the ratings me and jonathang gave you.

Thanks to everyone who made this tournament possible! :D

I totally agree with you on this.
The tournament showed us that a simple idea, if exicuted well, can bear more reward than a complex idea. Escpecially if the complex one takes way more time.

To be honest I was already working on the game a couple of weeks before the tournament started.
But this is my first game in GE. ... wel it is actually my first game ever :D

Once again: Congratulations Hares! And thanks lcl for joining the tournament (And showing that epic SABRE engine...)
That was fun! I just can't wait for the incomplete games to be done!!!! XDDDDD
As I've said before, February is going to be an extremely busy month for me, so I don't think I could even be a judge then, but maybe I could. As for contestant, maybe if the theme "space" is when I can show my new game. (4 stages done so far.) xDDD

jonathang, I am sorry, but the next month, February, its theme is rotation, so maybe if you know how you can implement that in your game.

Ah lol right, I don't have enough time for that, but I'll still be a spectator (Or probably judge.)

Speaking of the rotation tournament, is there a way to rotate actors or their animations?

The 1.5 version of GE over at game-editor.net supports OpenGL rotation. It works, but it's a major pain to use properly. Instead, I'd suggest a little program called RotSprite which you can get here: http://info.sonicretro.org/RotSprite

It lets you create a rotated image in any increments, amounts, resizing, etc. It's useful in a lot of situations.
