Great work feral, this is somthing that could be very useful to people working with Game Editor.
I will make somthing similar to this in C++ so it will not be limited to GE. :)

Am making a small 2d rpg game and struggling with some things like getting up a quest log that you can add to and subtract from as the quest is finished, so I'm definitely interested in your development of this. I think it's great.

I haven't tried following the tutorial yet as still have to wrap my little newbie head around the basics but I was very impressed not only with your code but with what asmodeus did with it!

thanks, and in so far as doing this in c++, the principals should work in any programming language, even up to the completed 3d engine, as i have not really as yet used anything specialised in GE that cannot be replicated in other sprite engines or programming languages ( could even work on mobile phones )

BUT, I doubt that most sprite engines could handle the large number of sprites required to really make this work, so GE will probably be the best sprite engine for this, tho, actual programming languages should work as well, if they can handle large numbers of sprites.. (I dont' think any phones can yet except smartphones)

The tutorials are currently being rewritten to optimise the game code, so you may wish to wait until then. sorry but i ended up having to work a great deal lately and have not been able to get back to this as soon as hoped..

tho, I have solved the "jitter/sprite shaking" problem and have updated the demo ( it was a simple float to int conversion)
see http://game-editor.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5658

Look at the tutorials:
Open up Game Editor, click on get latest tutorials (if you don't have the latest) then after it finishes downloading the tutorials (if there are any new ones) click on help. A box will pop down, click on tutorials, then click on demo making of, then click on platform game.
After you have gone through that tutorial, go through the rest of them. You may need to watch each tutorial more than once.
